About Morphic Units

In “Morphic Resonance” series I draw visual white noise that fills in-between spaces. Meditating on linear knots, I investigate a correlation between self-patience and nature’s pace.

Each Morphic Unit is made of a single continuous line that returns to its starting point. The intention of each piece is to unload busy thoughts on paper without expectations from the outcome. Choosing monochrome and keeping the materials at a minimum, I draw in automatism. In the folds, I observe the unfolding of my cognitive patterns in correlation with the Earth's consciousness.

About The Psychology Experiment

In December 2019 Morphic Unit #100 was showcased in Los Angeles, accompanied by a Psychology Experiment.

Morphic Units began as art therapy. This evolved into a curiosity about people’s perception of abstract artwork. I staged a scientific experiment and designed a questionnaire to research this phenomenon further. The experiment uses Morphic Unit #100 as a variable to test if the audience will sync with the artist and each other over predetermined keywords.

This is an attempt to apply the systematic principles, ethics, and integrity of the empirical cycle to test a hypothesis. Research materials, documentation, raw data, and the results may be subject to peer review.

Pysch Experiment Results and Planetary Health Alliance Annual Meeting 2021 Presentation

In April 2021, I presented the results of the experiment and discussed leading thoughts with a group of psychologists and artists at the Planetary Health Alliance Annual Meeting. My project was published in PHAM’s Book of Abstracts, “Planetary Health for All: Bridging Communities to Achieve the Great Transition.”

You may find the detailed report including raw data, methodology, and analysis of findings here.

The Morphic Unit Method - Group Sessions

Most recently Morphic Units evolved into a group art practice to release anxiety, burnout, overwhelming thoughts, and hard-to-name emotions. I have facilitated online sessions guiding the participants through my Morphic Unit Method.
