ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is in reaction to climate change and to review my identity as an immigrant.
I don’t take the world lightly. I wish I could. So I make art or rather live life artfully to sustain my mental health.
My “Morphic Units” began as art therapy and evolved into research in psychology. The intention of each piece is to unload busy thoughts on paper without expectations from the outcome. Each Morphic Unit is made of a single continuous line that returns to its starting point. In the folds, I observe the unfolding of my cognitive patterns and their correlation with the Earth's consciousness.
A lot of my art is invisible or disappearing. Works come out as poems, slogans, hand-written letters, private dance shows, unrecorded melodies, neatly folded recyclables, and lately, mandalas made out of compostables. I am practicing how to become more resilient on a Planet in crisis mode.
